Equipment

I know this is one of the most searched subjects in Blogs and webpages. People just want to know for whatever reason they have. So I'll just be a nice guy and posted it here : )
============================    BIKE     ============================
Bike - Koga Signature 2010 - Worldtraveller 26"
The Koga-Myata wasn't my first choice in fact was my 3rd. My 1st choice was a recumbent and 2nd a thorn. But with no dealers in Portugal for such kind of bike, I went to the Koga Signature, also a top of the line bike, no question about that!

Groupset: Shimano XT: Hubs, crankset, cassete, chain and derailleurs.
Brakes: Magura Rim Hidraulic Brakes
Tyres: Continental TravelContact 26" 1.75"
Handlebar: ITM Freetime Multigrip 53 Black
Saddle: Brooks Flyer

Panniers - Ortlieb  Roller Classic - Bar Bag, Front Bags, Rear Bags, and Dry Bag 35L as Rack Pack

These things were built to last... and last... Although not the top of the line from Ortlieb, these babies are more than enough to just pack and forget, about water/rain or dust to enter your panniers.
Ortlieb has Panniers with a different kind of closure and also from Cordura much stronger, but these guys will be enough to hold a 4 years world trip through snow and desert!

======================    CAMPING & COOKING    ======================
Therm-a-Rest® ProLite ™ self-inflating air mattress, Thermarest TrekChair, and Thermarest Pillow: Light, warm when necessary, and compatible with the TrekChair to relax in the evening. The mattress it's kind of narrow and slippery, besides that it's perfect. The chair works like a charm. The pillow light and confy :) It's merry pattern gives a home touch to the tent !
Sea to Summit: CoolMax® Adaptor Travel Liner

Leatherman Wave: This is a very useful tool. Not for bike maintenance, but for everyday use. One should carry this thing all day long in the city and in the wilderness. This is the object I use to make my friends jealous :)
Petlz Tikka XP and Myo RXP: The Tikka Xp was the 1st headlamp I bought in a hurry, only to found out it didn't had what I thought every LED lamp had. The electronics to make a constant light flow. I was wrong! I had to buy the Myo RXP later. The RXP has 10 levels from 8 to 140 lumen, but only the first 8 levels are regulated. So, just 71 lumen regulated.
Now I use the XP mostly for reading and cooking, and the RXP for night travel.

Primus Omifuel (Multifuel): This stove it's an expedition stove. Build to work at +50ºC or -50ºC. High or low altitude. Burns anything you throw at it. Since normal butane/propane gas to diesel, gasoline, hexane, turpentine, etc, etc. Comes with a 600ml fuel bottle.
Sea to Summit: Kitchen Sink.
Sea to Summit: Delta Mug.
Sea to Summit: 10L Pocket Shower.
Lifeventure: Micro Fibre Trek Towel

========================    ELECTRONICS     ========================
1. 160GB iPod (Apple): Infinite number of albums and podcasts do keep you company for a long... long... long... long... long time.
2. Shortwave Radio (Roskoff): Yes, they still exist. And yes one can still listen to BBC or other national radios in shortwaves in the middle of the Sahara.
3. Compact Camera (Panasonic): Compact cameras are the best friend for the tourist biker. So much lighter... Do you really need to carry a 2kg DSLR if you're not a professional photographer?
4. Odometer (Cateye):  To keep record of distance and time. Altimeter? do you really need one? Just check google maps
5. Dictaphone (2GB Philips): Do you like to hear your one voice? Better get use to it. This is the best notpad in the world.
6. Battery charger 110-220V(Sony): Batteries are a must in touring. As with all other appliances, be sure to support 110V-220V 50-60Hz or you will be stuck with non working electronics in half of the worlds countries.
7. Universal AC adapter(Roskoff): Better get one of these too!
8. Solar battery(Roskoff): A 54.000mA battery solar charged. If your're a laptop freak, this is a must. It can charge anything you want or just use the battery directly.
9.Small Stereo speakers for iPod (Roskoff): Bah.. why not? listen to some tunes while cooking dinner, no weight and Lithium bats.
10. Netbook (Asus EeePC): Welcome to the age of the true portable computers. Just 1kg of PC to write down your diary, organize your photos and videos, or just watch some movies!
11. Kindle (Amazon): All the books in the world for a few grams.. yeah.. it's kind of a must.
12. Too many cables: Just face the truth.
